Well, I guess I’m not going home in the morning after all.
I objected to my care ending tomorrow, as the staff suggested I should, but I was still making plans to leave first thing in the morning. The people here at Pillars have encouraged me to stay longer, and I understand why.
My right lower leg is still wrapped exactly as it was after the second surgery. The wrap has not been removed, so nobody has actually seen what is happening underneath it or how well the surgical area is healing.
I am tired of living out of this bed and doing therapy here. I was ready to go home. But going home would not make the medical problem disappear. I would still need a doctor to remove the wrap, examine my leg, and decide what happens next. I would also have to arrange transportation to get there.
The insurance company accepted my request to continue my stay, so I will not be leaving in the morning.
Tomorrow is Monday, and the regular staff I have been working with will be back. Hopefully we can finally get a clear look at my leg, make a sensible plan, and figure out when going home is truly the right move.
