Here’s where things stand.

My roommate Charlie found my last paycheck from the bank in my room at the apartment. I need it so I can pay my rent, and he’s bringing it by Pillars tomorrow.

Charlie has a bad cold, so he won’t be coming inside the facility—and that’s probably best for everyone. I’ve arranged for my point lady here to meet him outside, bring the check in for me to sign, and then take it back out to him. It’s a little complicated, but we have a plan, and the rent will get paid.

As for going home, I hate to say it, but I’ve decided to stay here through the weekend.

I’m ready to leave, but the truth is that my ankle can still use a little more professional care. Staying a few extra days is probably the smart decision, even if it isn’t the decision my impatient side wanted to make.

I am now planning to go home Monday morning.

I’m still working on getting my wheelchair delivered here to Pillars before I leave. That would make the trip home and the transition into the apartment much easier. I also have access to a chair back at the apartment that belongs to someone here, so I do have a backup plan if I need one.

The pieces are coming together.

The rent is being handled. The wheelchair situation is being worked on. My ankle gets a few more days of care. And on Monday morning, I’m going home.

Not today—but soon.

And this time, I want to do it safely and do it right.
